PSA: Gamma Control Discontinued

First of all, I want to thank you so much for the support during the past 11 years.

However, it is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that by 1st of January 2020, DesktopNerds will discontinue Gamma Control – after 11 years.

What does this mean?

This means that the buy button will simply be removed from the Gamma Control page. Support will also no longer be available. However, an update will be available in time, that makes it possible to use Gamma Control without a license.

Why this?

There are a couple of unfortunate reasons. First off, the Windows update 1903 pretty much ruined Gamma Control. It has been very dis-satisfactory to not be able to find a proper solution to this issue, while Microsoft has also not prioritized to solve their part.

While trying to solve this, another issue arose – A little battle started against a few anti-virus and anti-malware distributors. I appreciate the efforts these companies do, but occasionally they do flag software as false-positive. Unfortunately, after several emails back and forth between DesktopNerds and companies I won’t name the names of, the conclusion is that they will not remove the false-positive flags, rendering Gamma Control much harder to download and even harder to even run on your computer.

Lastly, time has become a rarity, making it much, much harder to handle said issues above.

Thanks to everyone who has bought a license, donated money or in spirit kept the software alive with kind comments on forums or wherever. I’ve been there, read most of the stuff out there.

Thank you all!
