Information

Gamma Control is an easy to use software designed to let you adjust the gamma on your computer, by just pressing a combination of keys on your keyboard, and/or mouse. Or you can adjust the gamma levels by using a trackbar. Gamma Control allows you to put your monitor to sleep, by pressing key combinations, which especially proves useful if you have more than one monitor, and you wish you put them in standby mode when you leave. In Gamma Control, you have a profile manager, so you can customize the hotkeys to fit your needs for each game or software you are using. You can change profiles from Gamma Control, or by right-clicking the tray icon, and "Select Profile". This software is especially useful when gaming, as you only need to press the key combinations and not having to quit the game. Additionally Gamma Control offers a preset, which is controlled by "CTRL + ALT + S" and "CTRL + ALT + W" by standard, to adjust the gamma respectively to 0 and to the previous used configuration.

How it works (standard combinations)

"CTRL + ALT + +" to turn up the gamma. "CTRL + ALT + -" to turn it down. "CTRL + ALT + *" to make default gamma. "CTRL + ALT + S" press this combination, and your gamma setting will go to Default.(useful in-game). "CTRL + ALT + W" press this combination, and your gamma will go back to your last used gamma setting.(useful in-game). "CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + S" press this combination, and your monitor will enter stand-by.

Requirements

Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x86) - Most have this installed already. (Download Link: https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe )
Windows 8.1 or higher - It will not work on Windows 7 or lower.

Fixes Made:

Refined internal code to make updates and background operations smoother and safer. Previously, certain automatic update routines could trigger false-positive alerts from antivirus software; these have now been optimized to prevent that.
Replaced the old keyboard and mouse hook methodology used for global key registration (previously causing false-positive detections) with native Win32 API hook registration methods. This keeps functionality intact while reducing antivirus warnings.

Changes Made:

Installation path changed to %APPDATA%/Local/Programs instead of Program Files (x86), so UAC elevation is no longer required for updates or writing new files.
Upgraded from .NET 4 to .NET 8, improving performance and compatibility with new systems. This limits support to Windows 8.1 and newer. Legacy versions of GCv3 and GCv4 remain available for older systems.
Twitter/X integration replaced with Bluesky.

Added Features:

Announcement box removed and replaced with a new Profiles system. Users can now create, manage, and switch between multiple profiles easily.

Note:

Gamma Control v5 was a paid version and is skipped in this comparison. This release focuses on the jump from v4 to v6.

1. LICENSE

By installing, copying, or using Gamma Control 6 Phoenix ("Software"), you agree to be bound by this End User License Agreement ("EULA"). DesktopNerds grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software on devices you own, subject to the terms below. This license does not transfer ownership of the Software; it is not a sale.

2. DISTRIBUTION

You may not copy, distribute, sell, sublicense, or share the Software, in whole or in part, without prior written consent from DesktopNerds.

3. USER AGREEMENT

3.1 Lawful Use

You shall use the Software only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws. You may not use the Software in connection with material that is illegal, offensive, abusive, obscene, or discriminatory.

3.2 Copyright and Restrictions

You may not reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile, or create derivative works of the Software. DesktopNerds' logos, branding, and graphics may not be used without written permission.

4. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The Software is provided "as is". DesktopNerds and its affiliates are not liable for any damages, including incidental, consequential, or indirect damages arising from the use or inability to use the Software.

5. DATA COLLECTION & CONSENT

To improve and support the Software, DesktopNerds may collect limited technical telemetry as described in the DesktopNerds Privacy Policy (https://desktopnerds.com/privacy-policy). The Software may transmit the following information when checking for updates or reporting usage statistics:

A randomly generated installation identifier (UUID)
Software build version
Operating system and version
Country (derived from the requesting IP address; IP addresses are not stored)

No personal identifiers such as email addresses, usernames, hardware serial numbers, or MAC addresses are collected. Telemetry is used solely for delivering updates, counting installations and launches, improving compatibility, and understanding general geographic distribution. By installing and using the Software, you consent to the processing of this limited technical information as described in the Privacy Policy. Telemetry transmission stops upon uninstallation of the Software.

6. WARRANTIES

Except as explicitly stated, the Software is provided without warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

7. GOVERNING LAW

This EULA is governed by the laws of Denmark, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Denmark.

8. TERMINATION

Any violation of this EULA results in automatic termination of the license. Upon termination, you must immediately remove the Software from all devices.

9. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY

The Software and all accompanying files are provided "as is". DesktopNerds makes no guarantees regarding performance, stability, or suitability.
